I use a Logitech G27 with a load cell brake mod, mounted to a playseat. I have used just about every pedal set out there (I work int he business) and like this set up or the fanatec the best. If anyone has any questions about iRacing feel free to pm me.

I set up a friends system yesterday and he has a custom seat/frame from a small company in CA. It uses a Sparco seat (VERY comfortable!), G25 wheel, Clubsport Pedals, and an SST Shifter. I had machined an adapter to fit his 05 Cup car wheel to the G25 and the whole setup works very well. The pedals need to be mounted (IMO) at an angle to feel best and as the brake is VERY solid so a framed setup of some type is almost required.

I just started iracing a couple of months ago and I have the G25 setup. Do you iracers out there heal and toe or do you let the computer do it for you? I've been using the stick shifter in sequential mode and auto-clutch. I tried heal and toeing on the computer but it's so different than my car that decided not to do it.

Heal/toe is virtually impossible on all but the best pedal sets and unnecessary in a sim.

Seat itself is on rails, moves back a forth. I'm 6ft and still not all the way back.

Steering wheel base moves up and down at an angle so changes in height can be offset by changes in seat location.

Very sturdy.

OK. Sounds good. Thanks.

I'm 6'4" so I want to make sure it's going to work.

I don't worry about heel-toe. Since I haven't found a clutch pedal for a PC that has any feel to it I don't bother. I use the paddle shifters on everything I drive.

I also use a G25 with a loadcell brake upgrade and the Bodnar box. Been very reliable for me. Since the Williams FW31 came out, that's pretty much all I've been racing. I'm going to have to try to get back in to some of the rennlist league races that Kevin organizes. Lots of fun, but tough for me to get home in time for.

Here's a neat clip of the F1 car at road america. I'm the white car with red helmet.

We are running our Turkey Bowl tomorrow - VW TDI Cup cars at Zandvoort

Practice at 7:30
Qualifying at 8:30
Race at 9:00

All times EST. Hosted race, look for RRL (Rennsport Racing League) in the hosted races section of the member site. Password 944S2

Check out the writeup of the last couple of races if you want to get an idea what it is all about.

This thread is very timely. My intent (besides just having fun) would be "practice" on tracks that I get to race on through PCA.

I have a very good PC that I could dedicate...that sounds like all I'd need if I go the iRacing route.

What is the best software/platform at this point besides a PC?

Thanks,

Rick

Yes, every Wednesday evening. We usually get a dozen or so drivers, pretty laid back group of guys, even the pros that show up are easy going.

Yeah, it's a great group. I really need to get the computer fixed so I can run with them again. Some real fast guys but still some people that are actually human to run with.
