I know people that run with mirrors like that and they have good success. They are better then stock, that is for sure.

I bought a Longacre one and the brackets would not fit my cage. I strapped to the rear view mirror with tie straps but it did not work well. Also cracked it. So we will see.

I had one and gave it away. I found the mirror was way to close to my head. You really need to remove the stock mirror and mount the larger one further forward.

I used that mirror all season this year and it is a big improvement. Doesn't really help with the driver's side blind spot which is why I also have a 3" stick-on convex mirror on each side mirror that makes a complete package. One drawback I found with the rear view mirror is it's weight. I tends to pull down when going over hard bumps.

I have the Allview mirror. initially had the clip on version attached to my stock rear view (worked very very well). When I moved to a lexan windshield, I bought the race version (RAM) and had to fab a bracket to get it in the right position on the cage, but it worked out nicely. I now use the street version in my cayenne (great for blind spots, and keeping an eye on the kids in the back seat).

My opinion could be affected by the fact that I am somewhat vertically challenged.

You rich guys wit' yer fancy Hammacher and Longacre mirrors....If yer not willing to go down to the K-Mart auto section, just order one up from JCWhitney! A little double sided foam tape to hold it on, maybe a zip-tie as a safety strap, and yer ready to head down to the dirt track Saturday night!

It is also a cheap way to record what's out the back window without a second camera.....

The 996 has such amazing visibility, easily the best of any car I've driven. If you adjust your side view mirrors properly, you can get rid of the blind spot completely(in any car).

To set the side view mirrors: drive up to a car parked on the side of the road(do this for left & right sides), place the car in your side view blind spot. Then adjust the mirror so that the car is centered in the mirror.

Old man you're so fast you don't need mirrors! You can also use the cataract excuse when you chop someone.

I bought something like this clip on mirror from Pep Boys, I paid $12 IIRC, and use it on the cup car, helps with limited visibility due to Hans device, especially in the paddock... also have a longer one that clips on as well, cost less than $20 from the neighborhood parts store, used it on my 944T. They have little notches in the clip that allows for adjustment and always has stayed secure.

I know that some don't like them, but I have been happy with a 5 panel wink in my 944. Since installing the HANS and side net I lost all visibility to the pass side mirror, but the wink covers it all.

I mounted mine to the roof fabbed some custom brackets to get it in the right spot.

We have this model installed on our 968 and it works great. Comes with hardware to bolt to a rollcage.

For the 997 based cars, you may wish to consider the factory aspheric mirrors. http://www.suncoastparts.com/product//9X7MIRROR.html

Pretty much full coverage and no blind spots. Great for the street also.
