Hoosiers split at shoulder after 2 days?
Some of you may remember a week ago when I posted about the front hoosiers cording after just 2 track days.
Well when I picked up the tires from the storage place (dads garage) I noticed that the rears had 3 splits in different places on the inside shoulder.
The splits are all the way to the cords and are about 1/4" from the wear surface of the tire. There is still even tread left on the tires!
I'll post up some pics when it stops raining and I unload the tires but I'm hoping someone can give some insight into this problem. As it stands, I'm not really impressed with the hoosiers right now but until I check my alignment (again) I can't be 100% sure it isn't my fault.

Same problem:
This was on the outside of my right rear. All of the other tires wore fine. In fact, I got 28 hcs before the others went, including the replacement for this one. This happened at about 8 hcs.

Looks like camber or toe (or both) settings are off (for Hoosiers) and the tire is rolling on one edge and overheated, but i'm no expert.. Barely looks like there is any wear from the wear indicator dimples on down.

Both camber and toe were checked, and were fine. Also, the replacement lasted another 20 hcs before cording in the middle with the other tires. Notice that the tire is not worn through on the outside, it is separated.

What tire pressures were you running?

From: Trying to be the driver my car wants me to be
I had this year two rear tires split in a different spot, right where the X is in your pic. I have a friend who had this happen to him last year and he told me Hoosier told him to increase his air pressures to up to 42 hot. I don't think he has had this happen to him since and he says the tires still perform fine at 42. I just found all this out and have not had a chance to try the 42 yet. He has a C4S and he was told the weight of his car is not helping the situation. It is a heavy one with several options in it.

The camber settings have been checked twice this year and Hoosier tech in the US specifically told me 34-36 front and 36-38 rear (hot). They said that due to the weight distribution of a 911 that the standard pressures for different weight vehicles didn't apply.
3mm toe in rear
1mm toe out front
3.2 neg front
2.4 neg rear
315x19 rear
235x19 front
The wear characteristics in the rear are good, temps are near perfect but my technic may not have been.
