I'm sure Elliot Sadler would agree with you, after yesterday. And people talk about Sears Point being "unsafe".............

pocono is a great auto-x track. you don't need to set up any cones, you just use the potholes

Somewhat OT, but I recently went online with a photovoltaic solar installation at my house. To date I've produced about 3.5MW-hr total. My electric bill last June was $350...this June it was $50.

Aren't you trying to promote an event there in the near future?

The configuration they are running looks more interesting then the one that I have run though so I kind of wish I could make it.

That was nuts. If it weren't for Earnhardt's wreck and the subsequent safety they'd be planning a funeral for Sadler.

$16M to save ~$300k/ year? the math eludes me when there's so much more to invest in

Ah, memories. I remember the Green Astro Turf in the Arca Lounge years ago.

Promoting? No. Recruiting instructors for? Yes.

beat me to it. That and cutting down all the trees when it could have been done overhead in the parking areas.

Now they have the $ tied up and have to live with the crappy track.

I don't have all of the figures, but if it can generate 4M kilowatts @$.15 it should produce $600K in sell back/savings. If they can get a 50% subsidy, then it should provide an ROI in 13 years (which is still quite long). Rising utility costs and tax incentives would shorten that time.

Isn't this the last year for corporations to take the tax incentive? Did I remember seeing a 30% tax break on the investment somewhere? This could be huge for such an operation. As tight as this track is with their $ I am sure they have it all figured out. Or maybe they are just a bunch of idiots?

Could you imagine if the track would have invested $1 million more in the track with asphalt repairs? I wonder if that would have been a good investment also

+1 for Louie's steaks and the double infield, but last on my list of favorite tracks too.

I can see this as a benefit if the solar farm will be over the top of a still usable parking lot. Imaging parking in shade on a very hot day and not out on pavement that cooks to 130-150 degrees.

Then they could put some new astro turf down. (and they did put some new dollar store curtains in the Arca lounge 2 years ago- be careful not to trip on door sill when you go in.)
And I love what appears to be Doc's left over driveway pavers they put down at the apexes on the infields . I have lost 2 windshields there from the rocks .

That was unreal. Watching the earth move and the front end up flush with the firewall and the guy walks away.
