I just saw the IRL incident, and Holy Crap that passing rule is Fooked. So Castroneves is black-flagged for blocking even though he didn't actually move over in front of somebody?!?! He just held the inside line. He did exactly what a racer should do... but alas IRL doesn't seem to be actual racing. Wow.

"Schumacher supports Ferrari decision "

ALMS: Always good racing , Lime rock is a mickey mouse track , they should never race there .

NASCAR : same show as always

IRL: getting better and understand race manipulation ala F1 ...

Grandam : Best sports car racing on TV ...

+1 on local, grassroots racing being much more exciting than anything broadcast on TV.
At least at the local level you get to witness close, substantial racing with excellent utilization of racecraft that is unhindered by overbearing bureaucracy.

There is some truth to what you say , but remember at the grassroots level there are vast differences between drivers talent and car prep. In pro racing the differences are more marginal and it makes for difficult passes and since you are fighting for championship points , there are going to be less hail mary passes as in grassroots racing .

Lewis, with respect, you'd be best to keep your condescension to yourself.

Pushrod large-displacement V8 engines running at 10,000 RPM all day long making 800+ hp? 3800 lb cars with tiny 15" diameter wheels & even tinier brake rotors driving all day inches apart at 200 mph?

Yeah...there are no techinical aspects at play there.

hard to believe the blocking rule on an airport runway, did anyone catch the number of differing lines taken on the last lap, Dixon was a late apex and the 2 Penske boys were doing what they should. Total joke.......

Yeah, who's whining now? To each his own. For many of us NASCAR is like watching bumper cars in circles.

Sorry it appears that I struck such a raw nerve with you in the other thread, Louise. FYI, pointing out the impressive technology at work in NASCAR (like it or hate it) is not whining.

For many of us, condescending Europeans are priceless entertainment as we set them spinning in circles over & over & over again.

Sheesh. If I had wanted to be part of the pissing and moaning about Alonso, Shumie, etc, I would have posted to that thread. I THOUGHT that perhaps, we could actually have a discussion about racing and what it was becoming. I guess not - thanks A Wayne and Luis.

I am done.
