Default Corner Balance: With or without spare tire?

Current setup: Without.

Pro: Turn in is noticeably better without.

Con: Part of front impact protection is absent.

What says Rennlist?

Why are you even carrying spare?

I keep my spare in place because I need the weight, it's in a good place (low front), and it is part of the impact protection. If I wanted to lose the weight it would go..

You Corner Balance the car set up exactly the way you will drive it, including your weight (or you) in the driver's seat.

corner balance the way you drive. *including* with you in the driver's seat, or an equivalent weight.

+1 Gary's comments. If you have to make a minimum weight, leave it in since it puts weight further away from the motor, assuming they're opposite from each other.

Don't have to make a weight - just do DE's.

Thanks for the responses, in any event. Seems that opinions here largely mirror the discussions I've had in recent weeks; all kinds.

Was being tech inspected by a 964 driver and he asked why I had it out; prompting curiosity.

DE take it out as you have less weight and therefore more chance of winning!

However it may be part of the engineered crash protection designed by Porsche for the front end, if thats of value for your safety.

Compromise safety for 10lbs? I think you've answered your own question.

When I did my research on this question I found that the spare was an integral part of the frontal crash protection system. Never took it out, but I did take out the tools / compressor.
