"There's a lot of debate on this subject - about what kind of car handles best. Some say a a front-engined car, some say a rear-engined car. I say a rented car. Nothing handles better than a rented car. You can go faster, turn corners sharper, and put the transmission into reverse while going forward at a higher rate of speed in a rented car than in any other kind.”

I have since come to realize that test cars have even higher performance limits than rentals...

Ahem....cough...I attempt to treat other peoples cars better than I do my own. It makes for funny stories ...I live for funny storries. Horsepower will hurt me. I'm good with that. And thanks to the people that have "forced" me to track their cars...with HP.

we just put in some pretty good times with the rental car some poor dumb bastard showed up in - at ORP (oregon raceway park).
dollar in to drive, slowest has to ensure a ride around the track in the trunk (safety concerns gave the slowest a reprieve).
good fun, we kept the shiny side up.

"Nothing handles like a Hire car" used to be a mantra amongst the Musos who were always hiring cars.
That's pretty funny Brendo, lol.

Seth- remember that girl at the BMW race school last year at Road Atlanta in the Saturn rental- it was a Saturn wasn't it?
As I recall car did not make it through the day- transmission balked at the abuse- but showed courage (as did she).

I remember a few years back, a guy rented a Jaguar sedan and used it for a DE event - put it in the wall, causing quite the fender bender. He'd purchased the insurance through Hertz, so they got him another car and he showed up for the second day of the event. If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I'd never believe it.
