Default Easy one: Modifying windsheeld wiper position? (993)

Hey guys.

No, not the usual move em over to the passenger side routine.

I'm looking to "stop" the windshield wiper cycle while the wipers are in the straight-up position.

OEM configuration runs the entire cycle; back and forth. Is it possible to stop them at the half-way point with some sort of switch modification or is it already possible and I'm just going about it the wrong way?

Thanks.

Easiest mod there is. Just pull the wiper relay from the fuse box.

Then they stop as soon as you switch them off. Oh, and intermittent feature doesn't work any more with that mod.

If you want to get more elegant than that, IMHO you'd be wasting your time.

I got a little more elegant in my 964....

I found due to the steering wheel position, I sometimes clipped the wiper stalk when shifting and accidentally turned the wipers on while driving. I just ran a couple of cables from the fuse spot (#24) to a dash switch with an in-line blade fuse.

Now on the track, I can turn the wipers off completely but if it rains, it is easy to get them back.

The same idea would work for the op too.

What is the purpose of parking them in the upgright position? If you are seeking better aerodynamics, then you are better off parking them in the normal (down) position. Grassroots Motorsports has an excellent article of aero concepts in their last issue.

More for visibility. Coming from an older 911; I miss having the headlight tubes as reference points. From the driver's position in the 993; moving the wipers fixes this - I simply don't want to reverse em and am looking for something more temporary.

Sounds like this will do the trick.
