I would go with a Pagid/Textar stock street pad or the Pagid Sport pad that comes stock on the GT3. Bed them in good and you will have good bite. I use to use PF97 and drove the car to the track and always thought they had massive amounts of bite on the street and even better when warm at the track after 1/2 a lap.

Carbotech XP 10's have good bite cold. The critical thing with Carbotech is proper bedding, otherwise the tend to leave deposits

Go to pelican and get the BHP pads. They have a huge temp range, including cold. For a 15 minute run, you should feel no changes, no matter how hard you're braking. I don't know if they're making them anymore, but pelican parts has a very large stock of them.

Here's the link:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...BRKpad_pg2.htm

They claim only a 5% performance difference across the temp range. Should do the trick for you.

Those BHP XPS pads look about perfect for an autocross or hillclimb type run. Anyone have 1st hand feedback on them?

I put a set on my 997 when my son DE'd it last year. They work great on the street so I just left them in.

I've gone through about 3-4 sets of them now. At first I did double duty with them, but they don't last too long on the street, and produce a good bit of dust. However, I have been thinking of going back to them for the street, as at least they're quiet.

I used them heavily for DE's at the tracks here in North Texas, and they were great. After a 50 minute run at Eagle's Canyon (near the end of a 3 day weekend), I had heat issues with them. I got them hot enough that one corner just disintegrated. My fluid had boiled every session leading up to that one, and I went over range on the IR thermometer, so I don't know how hot the calipers got. After a few minutes, the rotors registered at 550 deg (clamps still didn't register), so I'm guessing I got them near 800 deg when they started having issues. They still worked at that point, there just wasn't anything left after I got the meatball.

All other times I had nothing but good things to say about them.

So for the most punishing applications, you'd need more than just stock cooling on a 996 C2, or at least don't left foot brake while still at full throttle for that little kink in the straight

I also recommend Hawk HT-10. I had them on my old Cayman and they had great initial bite but I did have heavy rotor wear. I'm trying PFC 06 on my current Cayman attempting to get longer rotor and pad wear but they have no where near the bite of the Hawks and I seem to be having more ABS issues.

Same for me. My 97s are ready to go after one application during the out lap, and at the end of a 90 minute enduro, they are still working fine. I also have through the bumper cooling, which probably helps.

You guys with power brakes...

With S calipers and no power assist it's pretty hard to slow the car down on cold race pads. I will test them again on the street when the car is running again, if they won't do it I will try those BHO XPS pads which look like they should do the job.

Thanks!

We put the BHP XPS pads in before our 1st run today at the Robin Hood Rally in Berlin, NH and they worked great in the Analogman/Hoosier/Speedsport tuning '73 911!

Thanks!

Try those new CL RC6 (or RC6E) sintered race pads.

I'm now running the RC6E, and cold bite is just like a street pad, if not much higher. Once they heat up, nothing changes. I think this may be the holy grail of race pads.
