But the main problem and reason for this thread is the 680 rear tire is not a possibility on the 996TT.

Also just wanted to note that the yok spec for the rear tire is for a REAR engine car. On a BMW of the same weight, it works just fine.

I'm trying out a set of the Michelins 27/65/18 on the E46 on all 4 corners...normally use 280/650/18 all around, but we'll see how the michelins do.

Subesports has the michelins for $265...that can't be right, can it?

Yes, those Michelins are very tempting at that price.....!! But......they are not that good.....

Right kind of decided... Dunlop 260/640/18 front and either 300/660/18 or 300/650/18 rear... My contact at Dunlop Motorsport has mention these all have same construction as I was concerned that the 650 rear was suited for front... TBH, I'm under 3000lb now so fingers crossed these will do the job!... Keep you posted, Thanks all!

I have only run a couple of sets of Michelins and they were scrubs that I bought so I cannot really say. I have run a lot of Hoosiers (NASA contingency) and they work quite well.

My $.02's worth..... The Michellin's and Yokes Rick mentioned are in my experience not worth the money especially on a heavier 996 based car. The Michelin Blues, or the Yokohama IMSA cups are of a different construction and both are far superior to their respective 'club' tires. I don't know if the 'Blues' comes in other sizes, but for now the Yokes are only available in the 240/280 cup car sizes.

Yoko went to a different construction or compound for the 2010 series due to the wider rims on the new cups, and the good news is that the remaining 2009 IMSA cup tires are available for the same prices as their 'club' tires, about $1,500. per set + shipping, taxes, etc. They were $2k last year....

As for Hoosiers, I really like them and have run the 645 rears without incident. As previously mentioned, I wouldn't consider taking them out on a banked track in turbo 996 ever....

Yip, I narrowed it down to the latest Hoosiers or Dunlops, but after Matt, Rick, Geoffrey and a couple of the UK racing guys gave them the thumbs up this is the way I will go, the Dunlops. Thanks again all!

680 will fit, no problem but the PASM will say no no..
