Default How would you fix the racing in F1?

Forget about fixing F1 in general since it's such a huge mess. How would you fix the racing so it wouldn't be a parade? If this is another parade year, I'm not sure that I'm going to keep watching it.

What would you do if you had control?

Less aero, more hp, what?

Inverted grid 10 lap sprint, local yellows only.

Abolish the "no refueling rule" - kind of stupid if you asked me.
I don't understand how that sort of rule translates into technology for street cars down the road... after all - everyone who drives on the street is going to have to refuel - or recharge (if electric).

-Inverted grid
-Better grid girl attire (long sleeved coacts? come on...)
-One mandatory 3 minute pit stop; fueling allowed
-No diffusers
-Square wheel/tire setup
-More **** in the pits

Here's what Button said about the refueling ban:

"It's not like the old days," said the Briton. "We have so much more downforce. You could follow cars (back) then. You could slide up the inside. You could race. It's very different now."

+1, **** in the pits

Invert the grid !!

Flip a coin [at the start of the race] as to which direction to run the track?

Add weight to the top three cars after each podium.

Since they are not refueling now, why are the tire changers still wearing fire suits?

This is so very simple. No wings, flat bottoms, no diffusers.

Limit the fuel used to say half what they use now, but ease other engine restrictions.

I can see why all those people wrecked! They likely couldn't see coming down the front straight due to all of that dust....

The one thing that really frustrates me as a viewer, and I think plays a big role in reduced passing, is the drivers' tendencies to push each other off-track when their nose is in front. With the fragility of the front wings, nobody wants to go 2-wide and risk being slightly behind and forced off. The driving has become too aggressive in my opinion, and that's completely independent of aero, fuel, tires, etc.

Watch the footage from older races and you'd routinely see drivers going 2-wide through multiple corners, giving each other room. To me, that's exciting racing.

Either reign in the drivers, or make the cars more solid so they can bump and bang their way past each other (ala BTCC, Aussie V8s, etc.).

I don't think no refueling is the issue. The difference compared to the last no refueling era is the pit lane speed limit making the pit stops too long for tire changes, so everyone go on the "conserve" mode.

Not to say they should sacrifice safety, but shorter pit roads (or design the pit road more like a shortcut of the track) should help.

Are all of you guys too young to remember the 3.0 Cosworth era? Or back to Race #1 of the current FIA-- Fangio, Farina, etc.? They didn't refuel.

It's all about the forcing of austerity. Why limit engines? Tires? So Virgin and Campos (and what USF1 would have been) won't be a laughing stock? Newsflash--BRM, March, and Ensign weren't exactly at the pointy end of the grid when Ferrari, McLaren, and Lotus (the real one) were kicking ***.

3 gallon fuel tanks, throw a double yellow every time a burger wrapper blows across the track, and certainly more **** in the pits...
