Talking Laguna Seca first impressions = awesome

In my 997S.....kind of off line in some of the turns and had to short shift in turn 5 to avoid the sound police but somehow pulled it all together for a personal best of 1:42. First time to Laguna Seca and LOVED IT! Now to get into the high 30s and I'll be happy.

Ooooh, great shots ...thanks for posting!

I have driven LS twice in my life (and the last time was maybe 5 years ago!!). Hands down my favorite track!!! All the elevation changes and turns, not to mention gorgeous scenery (yeah, I look, which affects my lap times ) and the setting of the track itself ...just a world-class venue any way you look at it. I hope to get back there one day. Glad you had fun (given your hardware, how could you not. ).

Laguna is a very special place. It felt surreal being on the same track you've seen so many times and have the line memorized in your head. I will be back very soon for sure!

Great video quality! It's really cool to see all the data simultaneously with the video. I've only spectated at Laguna in real life, but I did over 150 laps since Monday in Iracing

I remember you! I think you passed me a few times

It was my first time at Laguna (and my first track day in several years). Totally had a ball.

So how does the corkscrew feel in the ol' gut when taken at speed?

You won't believe how fast you'll be going once you're comfortable with the car and the track. Which, amazingly is a pretty easy track to drive. (Now the old, real Laguna............T2 and T3 were gut check. From what I observed/was told, since I was only crewing back then.)

Loading mine in for our day Tuesday. Hopefully can get down below 1:40. RA1's might not get me there, though.

Right now it's just me having fun with the car and getting it dialed in and set up. I have a few more additions to do but I plan on running in the POC GTS classes this year.

It's a bit of a leap of faith. lol but so much fun! You need to commit to it.

Yeah it's an easy track to learn the line BUT getting your times down takes a bit more effort and comfort. I hope to get down below the 40s with some work and a set of Hoosiers!

Yeup ...that's exactly what I remember. Once you get the turn-in for the corkscrew down, you're in for the ride. But by track out of 8b, you've picked up some good speed and T9 can get, um, hairy if you're not in the right place. Great track ...man I miss it!

Not on RA1's. The last club race we did in '03 (!), I looked up and Cervelli did '39's in a (then) C class 993. Obviously, on Hoosiers. There's not 4 seconds out there with slight regearing and 25-30 more HP. And even though my car is more sophisticated in the suspension, how he had that car set up coupled with his ability should put me about equal on inferior tires.

Which, puts us about the same with your RS.

Oh, and how come you're scared of the (non) wall at 9? Go find a picture of how the turn was in the '80's or '90's! Actually the wall at 11 (former 9) was the car killer. Little slow turn caused almost as much damage as the old, real 3 or 4. (3 and 4 on the original config, the good track they killed off.)
