Default Traqmate antenna - cross post

My traqmate has the antenna mounted on the shelf directly below the rear window. At Sebring, I kept losing and re acquring the GPS signal.
Where do you guys mount the antenna?
Please email me at:

It will receive the strongest signal if mounted on the roof, outside of the car. You can snake the wire out the window or in some cases through window seal. Routing depends on SU mount location.

Edit: By out the window, I mean between the door and the car.

Rick,

In my cayman I tried to mount it inside the trunk but had the same issue of loosing signal. So I mounted it on the roof snaking the wire through the back hatch. I have see them work in the trunk of 944's but they have a lot more glass then either of us do.

I have my GPS antenna installed on the front cowl just in front of my wipers in my 993. Seems to work perfectly in that location.

Double-sticky-taped to the inside of the rear window.

Rick -

I also have my antenna installed as PatFat describes - under the plastic cowl that protects the wiper mechanism. It pops right off and the antenna goes underneath. Absolutely perfect reception and nicely tucked away.

Modified a GPS mount and mount it at the bottom of the windshield, haven't had a problem receiving a signal.

Mounted centered at the interior top of the dash, at the base of the front windshield.

What Michael said. There is a small cover at the base of the front windshield that you can lift up. Under it is a small, square metal plate that you can set the antenna on top of. You may need to dremel a notch in the back to run the cord through. Replace the cover and run the cord under the dash and everything is well hidden.

Thanks for the input guys....we're moving it out of the back and either to the roof or by the wipers.
