Default Recutting MPSC Grooves for the Wet

Some time ago I downloaded a Michelin publication called Michelin Pilot Sport Cup in Depth. In this they discuss recutting the grooves to optimize deep water performance. Has anyone tried this? If so, how was dry performance affected?

Bill, I would try and avoid this. If you need rain tires run Hoosier rains or another rain performance tire. The tread compound on MPSC's has a hard time getting up to temp in the wet especially cold weather. You need them to channel water and also gain some heat otherwise they feel like ice skates. I have run MPSCs on a cold wet track and they can get hot, but it takes up to two laps and aggressive driving. Running MPSC's with deeper grooves would likely lead to chunking in the dry. They really are fastest when the tread is almost gone.
