Default Grand Cherokee SRT8 as tow vehicle?

Hi,
I am entertaining getting a second SUV for our household and am thinking about the Cherokee SRT8. The Jeep site says that it has a 7000 pound towing capacity. The SRT8 has over 400 ftlb Tq. What I can't find anywhere is an option for a tow mount. The exhaust on the SRT8 is in the center so I'm questioning how towing could work!
Anyone here use an SRT8 to tow an open trailer??????
TIA

I looked at one once and was told they only have a 3500 tow capacity but I suggest you check rather than taking my word

You are correct Dan.
I finally figured out where they were keeping the specs on their site and the SRT8 is only good for 3500 pounds. Oh well!

as you stated the exhaust comes run down the middle where the hitch would go, may be for a utility trailer but i do not think you could get a hitch to work it would probably be to low to clear everything

I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited as a tow vehicle for my open trailer, 5.7 hemi with a tow rating of 7,200 lbs. The SRT8 has a center exhaust and a tow rating of only 3,500 lbs. Jeep does have a tow kit for the SRT8 to enable you to hitch a trailer around teh exhaust but you are still limited by its low towing capacity

If you want a Grand Cherokee you will need for towing, go with the 5.7 hemi Limited or base model.

I use to pull the 951 on an open trailer with our 2000 GJC Laredo (4.7L) and it really didn't even know the car was back there. Only time you really noticed it was when braking, but if you had a trailer with electric brakes, that wouldn't be an issue. Good to know about the tow rating on the SRT8, guess I won't be upgrading to one of those, lol.

I wanted one but picked up a trailblazer SS instead. The jeep can only tow 3000 ish and the SS is 7ish. SS also has rear air bags, tows my open steel trailer like there is nothing back there.
