any thoughts as to what happens to that price range when the 991 GT3 Cup comes out?

rides in a 991 become more expensive and 997s less expensive as their competitiveness drops?

I don't know, but logic would suggest that.

Maybe someone who actually shopped seats this year will chime in. There were a handful of cars with RSR gearboxes this year (9 or 10 I think) out of the 24 GT3 Cups that were entered. It would stand to reason that the cars with the "updates" were more expensive seats, though a couple of those get taken out of the mix immediately since they were Brumos, Magnus, and TRGs top 2 cars. The cars that ended up on the podium aren't really part of the usual seat shopping that took place on the rest of the Cup Cars in the field.

A Porsche GT3 is not competitive in Rolex GT without the $90k RSR gear box. At Daytona it was worth about 1.2-1.5 seconds per lap, and it will have an even larger effect at normal tracks like Barber, etc.

A $100k transmission added to the normal cost of around $350k to run a car for the race (not including the cost of the car itself) isn't a trivial amount.

edit: just to add, IMO of course. :-)
