Dino

I have had one for over a year. If you do not have a halo seat you may want to look at one. I have not had anything else, so I cannot give you a legitimate plus or minus on the system. Once set up they are farily easy to put on and take off.

Reading thru grassroots and came across the Defnder ad for $549. Very tempting. Looked over the links above, still not convinced one way vs the next. Heck, you call one shop, they say they like hans, you call another and they like the Hutchens type. Looks like the Defnder is still only SFI rated, which might not matter for nasa/scca/pca participating folks.

Default defNder

defNders currently on backorder - expecting a shipment in Feb 23/24.

Personally, we use HANS. The stabilizer bars on the defNder sit up too high and we cannot pull our helmets all the way on. However, we have customers that have no issues and really like the features.

Remember that SFI tests neck tension while FIA tests the strength of the device. HANS and some Safety Solutions units have passed SFI and FIA. defNder is SFI only - I believe they are pursuing FIA but don't know where that stands as of right now.

I recommend doing good research and making an informed decision. There are a lot of people and businesses who will push people in one direction or another. No one device is the perfect solution for everyone. As Apex said, the DefNder doesn't fit some people so it would be a poor decision for them.

Great info can be found here.

I have a couple of DefNders in stock if someone needs one.

I tried an Issac, then a Defender, but prefer the HANS.

I would try one on to make sure it is comfortable for you. As others have said, they do not fit comfortably on everyone. We have them in stock at OG Racing.

Hmm, might as well wait for the first NASA event at Mid Ohio in April and see if anyone will let me try one on.

I'm still running HPDE so I don't have to have a neck restraint but I do have a full cage and 5 point harness's in my car and want the extra protection these devices offer.

Tom

Oh, sorry sparks259, did not mean to hyjack the original thread but I am sure everyone is asking the same questions. Because of the price of the defnder, it makes it very appealing.(But feedback is pricess)

Tom I am 100% certain that all the vendors who've chimed in on this thread are more than willing to let someone return one if it doesn't fit and exchange it for another device.
