Default GrandAM - December testing pics

Things don't look too different than last year. Stevenson's Pontiacs have been converted to Camaros. A bunch of the Flying Lizards were driving a TRG cupcar. The DP's are still ugly Link to the pictures is below, check it out if you like bare carbon and primer like I do:

Those Camaros are a bit too NASCAR for me.

It's the same underneath as the GXP.R I believe.

From what I understand it is the Pratt and Miller chassis that was a Pontiac GXP last year, Pontiac is dead so they updated the body to the new Camaro. Not sure if there is any GM money there, hopefully there is. I wonder how the aero compares, seems a lot less slippery than the Pontiac was. The size of the body (on race and street cars) just makes the wheels look tiny... There are a bunch of pictures of it in the link above.

Wasn't the GXP-R itself just a re-skinning of the Pontiac GTO-R?

I'm afraid, I'm not familiar with GXP.R. But please tell me more.

This car was developed in the states recently. With the help of Nic Johnsson (Grand-Am) and GM. Mostly wondering if there would have been similarities.

I believe it is the same chassis as the GTO too. Why reinvent the wheel when you have a winning car?

Here is the Banner Racing GXP.R (yellow/black) and The Racer's Group GTO (blue). One of the TRG GTO's is run by MCM now and is painted black, don't know what the age limit is in GrandAM, we might see it again in 2010.

The GTO definitely gets my vote for best looking of the 3 bodies, I heard it had better aero (less drag) than the GXP.R too.

Well the GXP.R is derived from the old P&M chassis that was underneath the Rolex GTOs and Corvettes. I don't know what changes were made, if any, but like Cory pointed out, the Camaro is the same chassis as the GXP.R. They just made the change because Pontiac is dead.

Interestingly, the same chassis is bodied as a BMW M6 and run by PR1 & Turner Motorsports...

Next year you'll be seeing a Camaro racing an M6 and they'll be the same car, albeit with different engines.

See this is why I'm not a fan of Prep 2. The GT cars should be standard OEM chassis cars.
