My plan is to be on the show floor all day Thursday and part of the day Saturday. I hope I see you, Cory!

Dave,

If you get a chance, can you drop by the Chasecam booth and ask Randall where they are on their HD offering? Would love to know what TraqMate has deployed in the HD field - I just got an email from them on their press release this morning.

Let me know if you discover any good HD info from either of those two firms. Thanks a bunch Kimo Sabe!

Toby, 5 months for the HD camera, 2 months for an all-in-one data unit. The data unit should accept up to 4 video inputs. Hope thgis is the info you needed!

Hey, does this mean no separate ChaseCam? Something like a Traqmate and ChaseCam integrated as one unit, made by Traqmate? Guessing that this new unit is not going to be HD since you list HD as being further out than this new uint?

Thanks,

Mike

It's called teh DIVA. Data integrated video. It basically puts the data module inside the pdr box, adds a lcd screen so you can see the video to aim the cameras, updates the connectors so they are locking and records to a SD card instead of the CF card. Probably a few other things as well but those were the high points of the new unit. Same size or very close to the other.

The data software is still very rudimentary but is fairly intuitive from what I saw and used. They understood that they needed to add more features to it and are working on it. The plus is that all the upgrades would be software. The data crunching is part fo the Dashware program so no free download to see data like pretty much all the other companies.

glad they are going to SD cards. I just had to pay $40 for a 4gig CF. Wanted to get a fast card to make sure it had adequate write capabilities. Could have had the same thing in normal/mini/micro SD for half the price.

The hardware updates to the ChaseCam stuff is very nice. Locking connectors, the SD card setup, the LCD screen.

The data crunching software left a lot to be desired. Just wasn't there yet. I would not recommend it to someone yet. One of my big hurdles is that you can't download the software for free, it is batched in to the Dashware program so playing with it for the masses just won't happen until they separate it out which I doubt. They are the only company that I deal with the doesn't have free software so your friends can see the data as well.

The Traqmate is still a much better choice if you want to add some data on top of the video. Although there were a few of the new to market systems that will give Traqmate a run for it's money. On the surface the RaceKeeper system looks very good. Traqmate also expanded their video capabilities with a LAN-C connection so it can work on many of the new HD cameras out there. The video they had from one of the sony camcorders was excellent and the cost of the camcorder was under 350.

How about TraqMate doing something with their Display unit. Anything new there?

Nothing official but considering where everyone else is going, if it isn't in the pipeline right now they are shooting themselves in the foot.

They do have some nice software upgrades coming though. Nohting huge but a few nice things, like the way you compare two laps. Should be out soon, the programmer was not at PRI as he was making final touches to the program so I was told.
