just weighed my glass windshield... 27 lbs
my 1/4" SHEILDS brand polycarbonate is 10

it's an expensive 17 lb weight loss but everything counts when you don't have to hit a spec weight

Carlos that 's better than I expected. I just ordered one the other day. What are you doing for your rear window?

(Dyno'ed at 307 rwhp)

Heater box still has to come out, but after that additional weight saving will be tough. Not sure if the charcoal cannister is still in place. Also looking at fiberglass front fenders and pulling the headlights for when I run with NASA. Not sure about the Lexan screen yet, not sure its worth it. Any idea how much weight is saved there? I was looking at the MA Shaw hardened version. What did you go with?

You are right about the GTB rules, some cars are theoretically more equal than others.
I don't understand why you're car's weighs 3,000. w/driver. IIRC you're about my size (165?), so your car weighs about 2820 empty. The 99'-01' cars are 50 lbs, lighter than yours, and I'm at 2620 empty. Adding that 50 lbs back and 30 for the heater core and I'm still 120lbs. less than you with all steel body parts and full glass. Something doesn't compute here. Is there some lead hiding in there? Jimmy Hoffa in the trunk. IIRC I think Carlooz weighs around 2735 empty, correct Carlos?

I was a bit surprised as well. Lots of bars in the cage, but still? Perhaps I should throw one of my other cars on my scales or try another set just to confirm before I get too crazy changing body panels. In the past my scales have been deadly accurate, but maybe something got thrown off.

Thats just may be worth it. Are you using tear offs? Do you remove the front wiper as well? Any need to brace down the middle?

it's about 2550 with a 1/8 tank, no driver on PCA scales. lighter by about 50 lbs with my cage builder's scales

i'd love to use tear offs to protect it. any sources?

wipers removed.

no brace needed with 1/4" thick polycarb. you could go with thinner material to get a lighter windshield, just make sure the brace is light enough as to not offset the weight savings.

Oops my missprint, I mean't 2535 but 2550 is close enough to make my point. Rob's car, with CF doors & hood, should weigh less than 2700. Does the X51 motor weigh significantly more than our 3.4's?

PS: I have lots of bars in my cage too...

Tomorrow is Spec Boxster day at the track but T-giving weekend I'll have time to get all the cars back on the scales and see if something was messed up the first time I weighed it. Will report back then ...

Whatever track or tracks the 944 Cup Championship is at. However Mosport is the best thrill ride I've been on.

MOSPORT. Most thrilling/scary track I've ever raced for the 1st time (other than the NurburgRing).
Looking forward to the PCA race at Mosport; I know I left a full second to go faster; just need to wear tighter underwear to keep the required bigger attachments in place!
