Yes, I'm in R4. When I did the calculations based on their rules I came up with R5, when they classified me at the track, they put me in R4. I didn't bother to argue since there is no contingency on the table with PBOC.

Yea, what Pedro said

Yeah, but that's the point....I can't figure out what the 'calculations' are? I've gone through it 3 times now and can't even find R4 in the rules book. I see A thru J, then V and Z classes. What is "R" class and how do you figure that out?

To be honest, I don't remember where I got the info to determine my class, send an email to Bob (bobv4n@aol.com). The easiest thing is to show up at tech and Bob will pick a class for you.

Does this mean you are going to race this weekend?

Can't this weekend, but looking at options for next year. Since PCA didn't pass a form of combining the R and S in GT, there's never anyone to race.... It's getting a bit boring to be honest. I can't do NASA without some major changes to my car that I am not willing to do, so I'm looking at maybe a race in PBOC

Why can't you run GTS at NASA? All you have to worry about is wt/hp with a correction for running slicks.

There's a rule about roll cages in a 914 that requires a 'Petty bar', rendering the passenger seat useless. Nadine and I instruct and we really need use of the pass seat in DE's

I copied the section from the NASA guide below. If you are in compliance with PCA they should give you a waiver.

15.6.11.A Rear Braces - Exceptions
On cars where the rear window/bulkhead prohibits the installation of rear braces
(Porsche 914, Pontiac Fiero, etc.) the main hoop must be attached to the body by plates
welded to the cage and bolted to the stock shoulder harness mounting location. There
must also be a diagonal bar connecting the top of the main hoop to the lower front
passenger side mounting point (“Petty bar”). Some cars built for racing in other
recognized sanctioning bodies may be granted a waiver of this rule, however they must
show proof of compliance with the current published rules for their class.

I had a great weekend, lot's of really close racing and I set my personal best at 1:40.4xx (before this weekend it was 1:42.5xx). I went 1,2,2, but I'll openly admit that there were only two racers in R4, the other car (E46 M3) was a NASA GTS4 car and I'm GTS3. But, PBOC is purely for fun, not points, no contingency, just fun. The mini has run BMWCCA DM before and ran in that class but is also a GTS 3 car, and we have had good races in the past. I give them a big thumbs up for turning a 1:39 in qualifying this morning I did get the best of the mini in all three races but it was not easy. This is by far some of the closest racing that I've run. Three wide going into the corkscrew is just nuts (me, mini and an M3; I held the inside and came out of the museum turn in front)

Greg, nice meeting you, it was a fun race. My front tires were toasted at the end and I couldn't get the car to turn for anything Just a fantastic weekend of racing, you couldn't ask for better weather!

My GoPro died during both sprints and I got no video at all, guess I know what the family will be getting me for Christmas.

Yikes! Looks like the Radical didn't expect the Corvette to be there. Was that Bob's yellow Corvette that got tagged? That would explain the yelling

Yes. Pete did make a joke at the end about having a board meeting in T1 (three board members involved).
