Default Is this a good deal on a tire trailer/track wheel package?

I came across this locally. It's a South Sport wheel trailer. It's probably at least 5-6 years old and needs new tires.

It also comes with a set of 18x8.5 ET 52 and 18x10 ET58 Porsche wheels. The rear offset might be a little weird for a 996 (they came with an ET 67) so I'm not sure about how wide a rear tire I can run. It's got 295's on there now, but I'm guessing I might have to go down to 275's. Even though it's smaller than my current 285's, it would still be way stickier at the track than my street tires. The wheeels are off a 996, but I don't know if it was a narrow body or Turbo/C4S.

It comes with everything shown in the pics (minus the the 997 ) for around a grand. The slicks on the wheels now are smoked. But it does include the wiring harness, trailer hitch, trailer, Porsche wheels, blah blah blah.

It's not pretty, but he's asking around a grand for the whole setup and it will cost me around $200 to have the hitch installed behind my license plate.

Thoughts?

the wrong wheels are never a good deal. I used a track trailer with my C2S when I was a DE guy, it works great. Offer $200 for just the trailer.

That is a lot of money. I think a new trailer is around $400-500 from Harbor freight. I do not think those wheels are correct for a 996 that is Supercharged. Most guys with 996 and even 997 cars are useing 9x18 and 12x18 or at least 8.5x18 and 11x18 with the correct offset.

The Southsport Tire Toter was a very good design and has been out of production for some years now.
They usually sell for $500+ when they (rarely) show up. This one just seems to need some cleanup and painting; mechanically it looks good.
I would even go to $300 for it, based on what I see in the pictures and it would cost to make a similar "DIY".

Southsport is heads and tails above a Harbor Freight Trailer. I have 1 and love it.

Gums;
Love your bike rack adaptation. But I can not for the life of me understand why guys take their seatposts out for transit - do you really want rainwater and moisture running down the seat tube?

I don't want the seat to be soaked when I sit on it.
You can stuff a paper towel in the down tube.

I know a local guy selling a tire trailer made from a Habor Freight trailer. He wants $400. PM me and I can put you in touch.

I have a HF trailer but need new tires. Is this something any tire shop can handle? What should I expect to pay?

I'm running 19x8.5 and 19x10.5 right now. I'd love to go wider but the narrow body on my 996 isn't terribly accommodating.

I'm going to swing by his place tomorrow on the way home and mount up the right side to see how they fit. The fronts should be fine. The backs might stick out too far. Won't know till I see them on the car. He's got 295 Hoosiers on there now, so I'll have a good idea of how the widest tire would fit, or not fit
