Admittedly I'm accustomed to the fact that at some point I was going to crash at the track. Everyone always says "It's not if, it's when", considering the majority of the time I spend at the track anymore is doing drifting days I knew it was a matter of "How soon?"



Sunday was my final day of the year at Englishtown with ClubLoose for their Fright Moves event. I was pushing fairly hard all day, had some of my best tandem runs of the year and was genuinely enjoying myself. Had a few friends from NY come down with me, and Mike (TeamDrugMoney) and a few of my friends from Jersey came to hang out.



I will say, 100% this was driver error, if you compare the entry on the previous clip to the crash my throttle position is completely different when I come off the clutch pedal. The lack of wheel spin caused the car to straighten up and sent me into the berm at 45 to 50mph. Anyway, enough of the chit chat, on to the photos and video.

Crash video. The thumbnail does a good job of telling the story, all I could see was sky, hah! I didn't get the clutch back in quick enough and get back in the power so the car straightened out and I used the available... *ahem* runoff.

Highlights from Onboard the 350z, didn't shoot most of my runs at the end of the day due to forgetting to swap tapes. I NEED a rear facing camera on the roof.




Afterwards we patched the radiator, resecured it to what remained of the headlight mounting/radiator core along with ratchet straps to the bumper core and I went back out and had a fantastic final session. Thankfully nearly everything that was damaged was being replaced in the off season anyway. I guess I just made my engine swap a bit less time consuming I'm decently sore today, which I suppose is normal for an impact of that speed, got lucky.

Glad you were OK. I must say however it looks as though this wasn't your first shunt. judging by the front end.

Most of the cars look as though they've had a few 'offs'...curious as to exactly what the tech requirements are

Tech inspection:
1. All lugnuts and studs present and working
2. Battery securely mounted
3. Battery in approved battery box andvented if in cabin- Excludes sealed batteries
4. Working 3pt harness or better
5. Racing type harness must be mounted properly at correct angle in compliance with manufacturers specs
6. All loose items including floormats must be removed from cabin – including your sweet cd collection
7. Balljoints must be in good working order. No clunking or excessive play will be tolerated
8. Gascap must be present and seal correctly
9. Excessively loud vehicles are not permitted
10. Car must not leak any fluid of any kind.
11. Open differentials will not be tolerated includes OE S chassis VLSD
12. Fire extinguishers highly recommended for all cars.
13. SA2000 or newer helmet.
14. Use common sense.
15. Driver must be ready to rock at all times!

Special Inspection for Group A drivers in addition to above:
1. Drivers must have SFI 3-2A/5 or better racing suit. Single layers permitted with nomex or carbon X undergarments
2. Nomex lined Racing shoes and gloves
3. 6 pt or better rollcage with either X or nascar doorbars
4. Minimum of 2 lb handheld fire extinguisher within reach of belted driver.

Group A is those of us doing tandems.

you'd have to be on drugs to run a nice shiny new front bumper at a drift event, unless you've got sponsor money

Dead Eye, I'll be running DMCC next year as long as I get the car finished up. I need to finish the cage and I'm putting a VK56 in. Neither of which should be a problem, but I'm trying to get a tire sponsor on board for obvious reasons. I ran in the ProAM in toronto this past summer and placed 3rd.

Alcohol.... at the track? Uhh no. The events are quite a bit of fun though, very laid back.

I meant spectators of course, I also noticed a mx track in the background. And any time you have some smoking tires involved I hope there is some fun being had.

that etown track is tight, how they thought it would be road racing is beyond me. The facility is great, i have been draggin there for years but they need to rethink that track, get rid of some of the motorcross tracks!
