DE equiment escalation; winning your DE at any cost
There's been an increasing number of GT3s and GT2s showing up at Peachstate DEs but this showed up this past w/e and I thing it's getting out of hand. Some people take winning their DE very seriously. Kewl kar though.

Did the instructor drive it for the first 2 laps?
Seriously, about 8-10 years ago an instructor used to bring his Jagermeister 962 to DEs in the northeast. I was flagging at the downhill at Lime Rock when he went off in west bend due to the throttle sticking open.

Group 5 - I think there was a Spec Boxster in there too with us and definitley some 944s. Oddly it was not that quick. The drover told a fellow RLer that it takes a long time to heat up oil tires etc. With 20 mins runs, maybe that just isn't long enough.

Cool car.
I remember when we used to run with the Breselton driving Club at Road Atlanta and some guy from Alabama would bring two Ferrari's with him. One of which had run a Lemans back in the 70's. A very cool car that sounded even cooler.

Pretty cool seeing the car on the track instead of in some museum. Really, who cares how fast he was? Thanks to JW for bring it out today. Don't think I would have the cojunes to risk a $1/MM ride.

there is a difference. If he bought this car purely for the point of bring it to DEs to be the fastest guy out there then that is one thing. But I have to think with a car like this, he bought it to hold on to and just wants to bring it out to the track every once in a while to have fun with it.

I'm just pulling everyone's plonkers- for whatever reason it was a gas to see the car on or off the track.
It wasn't the fastest (or loudest) but who cares.
And my that's a big turbo- looks like a tractor trailer sized model. Its enormous.

I say good for him to bring a car like that out to the track and enjoy it.

Man, the driver sits well forward of a long back end on that car. I imagine that once you feel the rear coming around, it's too late. Wood (pun intended) be sweet to drive one on the track though.

Only 1? I remember a DE at VIR where a drover (wayne jackson) brought his 956/962 thing, a 917 and some special 914GT car lol
Very cool they brought that car out. I never got to see them race professionaly. So this would certainly be a treat for me to see.

Yep, I used to do a lot of DEs with the Potomac region about 10 years ago. At the time I didn't know it was unusual to have a dozen cup cars, a couple of RSRs and a 962 at a DE.
