Default Fitting a tire on bigger wheels than recommended specs.

I'm not talking a big difference, maybe like a half inch over the recommended specs. For example using a 12 inch wheel on a tire that' spec'd from 10.5-11.5. I'm more concerned about the safety aspect of it than anything else. I'm assuming there won't be a problem, but wanted to see if anyone else has tried it.

Anyone try this before, essentially stretching a tire out a bit.

The story is that my future wheels will have optimal sized R6/A6 which I will use from time to time, but not for the NT-01 which I'll use for just lapping days. So I'd need to stretch the NT-01 up an inch to make them work.

Opinions.........

sure someone with more experience than me will chime up, but I always believe the specs are there for a reason and I stick to them

Did it with 315-30-18's on a 12x18 CCW zero issues and many track days.

That's exactly what I'm thinking about doing NT-01's in 315/30/18 on a 12" wheel rear and either a 235 or 245/40/18 on a 10" wheel that I'm going to try and squeeze on the front.

A friend runs 315 RA1s on 12" wheels on his track Corvette with no issues. I mount them and though they do look a little streched, they fit and work fine.

not sure what car you have but I ran on my 2007 Carrera S

255-35-18 on CCW 9x18 wheels
315-30-18 on CCW 12x18 wheels

Currently I am running on these same wheels

I thnk a 235-40-18 is going to be too narrow for a 10" wheel. I just installed those on a front 9" wheel and I should have gone to a 245 or wider.
