Default Karting........

What to look for before joining an indoor adult, arrive and drive kart league.......

How do you judge which facility to join?

Electric vs. Gas karts..........

Track configurations...........lenghts, elevations........

Competition.........number of partecipants, aggressivity level.......

Well, you have guessed it.........

Here in New England it is time to put the race car away and start playing with the karts........

So.......do you have any advice about selecting the right place?........

Simple...look for one with a corruptible service staff who will, in exchange for suitable "consideration", guarantee that you always get the fastest kart.

go to the first one when you can, then go to the second one when you can, then decide which one you like and for whatever reasons.

i cant see how indoor karting would help with driving your porsche on the track, to me the indoor karts do not even relate to the outdoor karts, but that is my .02!

I have never tried outdoor karts, but I would imagine they would be hard to drive in the snow........

So for me is indoor or nothing at all.......

I agree that it is very different however it is also similar. YOu still need to hit your line, brake points etc etc. YOu can also practice your racecraft. Besides, not much choice in cold NY!

When you are driving indoors basically you are always WOT and blip the brake to rotate the kart but the fast guys never let off the throttle.

Racecraft ok, i guess so. Get rfactor as well and hit the pc.

I have been to www.gpny.com and they have some good equipment and racing there.

Fly out to Phoenix to the Bonburant Superkart School. Bring the wife, stay at any of many beautiful spas/resorts.
1 on 1 instruction all day long, no one else on the track (PKRA is a great track BTW).

(And if you stay an extra day or two, you can always sign up for some skidpad time, car control time or perhaps even some lapping time....lots of cars/programs to chose from)

IMHO, you will learn MUCH more transferable skills than doing anything at F1Boston.

If you're going to be out there, I would highly recommend it.

Here is the website:
http://www.bondurant.com/kart_school/index.php

I used to know the instructors and the GM (Alan Rudolph), but haven't seen them much since my son retired from racing.
