Default race exhaust in stock 968 E class

I have a 968 I have started to run in stock PCA E class. With my stock exhaust and heavy wheels, I already have to add ballast to make my class wt. Without headers, will I gain any power by replacing the stock exhaust with a cat bypass and race exhaust? I know I will lose wt by replacing the stock exhaust. Also, can I run a cone type air filter in stick class? Any recommendations for sources for headers, cat bypass and race exhaust?

Without knowing the specifics of filter, the easy answer to cone type filter in stock class is no. As far as racing a 968, Jim Childs races(ed) a well sorted 968in PCA and NASA. I have not seen him post for a while. Maybe you can send him a PM.

Pete at RSBarn would be a good source for what you need.
