There are some folks who write large checks to be "partnered" with pro drivers and get to stand on the podium....their job is to just do a short stint (as short as possible), NOT wreck the car and get back in the pits ASAP, after the pro drivers build up a lead.
However, the same could probably be said for professional motorsports in general today...it's all about sponsorship $$...even if you sponsor yourself.

You think Piquet Jr. was getting paid to crash or was daddy footing the bill? I remember Piquet Sr. when he raced as I've followed F1 since the 60's, but didn't realize he was such a piece...
Ride buyers are everywhere ( guess you could call me a ride buyer- NOBODY is paying me to race!!)

No one who is not insanely rich can run a race team on his own money except for the Penskes and Ganassis of the world. Everyone else needs money from drivers with the dream of competing in the big time, if only for a little while. I'm glad there are drivers who will pay the freight for rides since that allows me to watch the teams compete. BTW, this is by no means intended to say that France doesn't deserve whatever he gets, but I hope the Brumos team can continue to play.

#59 car wins race without JC- they got Hurley in from a Panamera preview in Wisconsin to fill in, and they WIN... BTW, until the finish under yellow, it was a hell of a race!!

Good for the officer for upholding law no matter what. Good for NASCAR for suspending France but I hope they hold it.
I've never met JC France but have seen him in the padock at races and he is not a personable or approachable guy. I never liked how he carried himself or represented his sport.
I am happy it finally caught up to him...I hope he is gone forever.

I've seen him at the Rolex 24 in the garages. At first, I thought he was a misplaced WWF actor...
See Blake, had you read his numbskull Brumos Bio, you'd have known he's a weightlifter, not a wrestler.

He was kind of like "they called me and told me I had to drive" -- kind of slightly hinting at past problems with France.
Hurley Haywood is such a legend and classy guy, it's just great they got the win yesterday.
Time to close that chapter, there really is so much talent around....
