Default Why did so many racers NOT do the Summit Enduro?

Just curious. I know there was a large thread earlier this year about the popularity of Enduros. At this year's Summit, it seems that more than half the field didn't do the Enduro. I know there is attrition and what not, but at the Saturday Sprint drivers meeting, they were already talking about just having one combined Enduro. So, I guess it's safe to assume that the numbers were pointing to one, not two enduros.

Looking at the clubregistration.net roster before the race, there was a significant difference between the sprints entrant total and the enduro. Leading one to believe that it wasn't attrition, but that racers had already preplanned not to do the enduro.

Any thoughts?

Usually has to do with the time of day, wanting to get home earlier. Plus, the length of time for some of the older guys. Throw a checker at 45 minutes? Move the enduros to Saturday? More sprints!

The condition of the track was deplorable. I didn't feel like beating in my equipment for another 1.5 hours

Manny,

To be honest with you there was almost too much track time if that was possible. A 25 lap sprint, a 20 lap sprint, and 15 lap sprint, along with 2 qualifying sessions, a fun race, practice starts, and 5 practice sessions. By the time I did the enduro I was completely beat. Next year I'll know to skip a couple of practice sessions and maybe co-drive the enduro. ( Mark, where can I get one of those patches ? )

I left because by the time the later enduro would have been over and I got home it would have been about 2:00 a.m. Plus I forgot my patch.

While I was not there at all, the three buddies of mine that ran the Saturday sprints came home before the enduro primarily 1) because they were scheduled to end late and had to work on Monday, and 2) they did not have a crew. the 7 hour drive from Charlotte would have been difficult they said.

I personally would have stayed for the enduro had I been there.

I didn't run the enduro for the same reason I didn't run the sprints - the owners don't give a **** about the condition of the track.

You don't fool me. With all the offroading Fred has done, I know those cars can take all sorts of abuse.
