Thanks
I'm wondering on that one too! I need to get the car back up on some stands so I can look under the bum.

Is that with your Spec Box? Do you still cross the fronts through the wheels?

on my SPBOX I strap straight through the front wheels, and straight (or sometimes cross) on the back wheels. Works fine. I use a kit like this: http://mrproducts.com/index.php?func...101&cookie=yes

Rear Tie-downs located at rear crossover support. Probably should have painted them Orange not black.

Nice rig, but I'm more jealous of those autumn colors!

I read somewhere that increasing the angle of the the straps relative to the force reduces the effective load capacity of the straps. In other words, if you criss-cross straps that are rated for 5000 lbs, they will hold much less than 5000 lbs when you slam on the brakes. And if you're thinking that most likely load is lateral vs. longitudinal, you've still introduced an angle with that set up.

You have to ask yourself which event you're trying to mitigate.... the car flipping over the side (and likely missing the tow vehicle) or the flying forwards (into the rear of your tow vehicle).

Nice light weight trailer, now the addiction can continue with putting the car on a diet.

I would also like to make a comment on the crossed rear straps. If you forget to tighten or something happens to one of the straps you no longer have a restraining force on the car from going forward. After doing the usual Google research on the subject, to keep the car from shifting from one side to the other you only need to have your tie point 4 to 6 inches wider than the wheel base that you are tieing down. I have always gone through my wheels to tie down my car to trailer as this lets your car ride on its suspension while being towed. As far as effecting your alignment by using your wheels to tie down, there have been many discussions regarding whether this actually happens or not. My car has been trailered many times and my alignment has never been effected (think of the amount of stress you are placing on your alignment in a corner).

Dave, that is a LONG time claim on the Internet, but I have never seen it actually happen. I have trailered many different 911s of various years/decades, and never had an alignment impacted by crossed straps through the wheels.
Trailex actually suggests the crossed wheel straps.

How would a car do cornering at 1G+ if the alignment could be knocked out on a trailer?

It's a big, giant storage box that also acts as a mud guard.
