Gotta disagree with you there...while the offset is 5mm greater on the 9's, they are 12.5 mm wider inside and out.

The net effect is the 9's are 15mm more inboard and 10mm more outboard in width.

But either will fit fine with 245's.

FWIW I run 255/40/17's on 9.5" Lindsey rims. They easily clear the spring plate bolts but 275's rubbed at around 2 o'clock on the drivers side rear, about 2 inches up the fender.

If the offset had been a little higher I might have been able to get thoe 275's to work.

9x16 ET15 have a front space of 108mm, 8x16 ET 10.6 is 98.4mm
9x16 ET15 have a back space of 138mm, 8x16 ET 10.6 is 120.7mm

the 9's sit ~10mm further out and ~17mm further in than the 8's

the 9.5 ET19 wheel is the one I use for 275/40x17 it centers the wheel just about perfectly in an SC/Carrera rear wheel well, you still need to do wok on the lips, oil limes and trailing arm bolts to get the tire to clear.

245/45 should fit on either the 8 ot 9 w/ a ton off room all around unless there is something off in the chassis.
