Quiet hour is a lot more common than folks realize. Road Atlanta, Roebling, Barber, Gingerman, etc. Lime Rock has Sunday as a quiet day.

Chad, I'm sorry you didn't have the best weekend. A few of us were at Chin Road Atlanta last November, and it rained like a cow pissing on a flat dry rock all weekend. Then as I head for home, the sun comes out- at 5:00 Sunday.

Chin runs a good weekend. Maybe you should have taken a few minutes to pray for sunshine.
Yep, I was there too !!!

A very Miserable Cold Rainy Wet weekend.

My student had an ~ 600 rwhp MTI Corvette.

We managed to slip & slide around the track...

both days.

Both our Vettes have "Heated Seats"...

so we spent a long time in both cars...

debriefing !!!

Too bad, it sounded good to me

My car won't pass the sound limit either, headers and pipes only.

Chad, 2 things u can do about the sound meters.

1) lift when going by meter.

2) install something like these tips. point them away from the meter. Very common at Roebling.

GA and Freemarket-NOT. GA and Separation of church and state-NOT

PCA runs during quiet hour. Group 1 and 2. Students. Usually mufflered street cars. Few issues.

You can add Summit Point to the list as well.

Time to move out west (not Monterey, CA) to get away from these stupid Calvinist laws! You can't buy liquor on Sundays, you can't race on Sunday mornings, you can't use medical marijuana. What a bunch of crap.

BTW- I think Chin and its precursor Tracquest are great driving and instructing events - tremendous value for the money in terms of track time.

Guys...to reiterate. I mentioned that overall Chin IS a great deal. The circumstances involved on Sunday made for a crappy weekend. There was a communication breakdown from Chin about which day I was to arrive, but all in all...very nice crowd. Friendly and helpful.

Since this was my 1st time back after taking a year and a couple months to build my car, I was rather excited. I am very happy with the results of the build. The car was outstanding in the short time I was on track.

My only complaints (and minor at that):

- Quiet time is retarded for a race track (any race track).

- Managing quiet time for any group can be done a bit better, IMO. Bring in some Q&A sessions with some pro driver's. Or perhaps a lead person from a major race team. Anything to add interest and value.

- Running any sessions during quiet time does not offer any value to seasoned track enthusiasts.

- Lastly, let's not start up the DE versus Racing BS again please. Some of us choose to go this route while others race. Respect that and each other. All-in-all, we all like to go fast....just in different ways.

Good discussion...no hard feelings here about Sunday. I am ready to sign up for another though.

Chin will be at Barber in October, come on over. We only have an hour of quiet time on Sunday and that is over the lunch break.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know where the sound meter station is for Road Atlanta?

I don't think they really have a fixed location, rather that the parties putting on the DE/Race who are responsible for keeping the noise down. The local Law can/will police the area and if they put a meter out and it is too loud they either fine or shut down the event.

Typically the meters are placed after Turn 7 near the bridge (Long Straight) and on the front straight between turn 12 & Turn 1.

BTDT. I've been told to park it even before I got on the track.
