I think you had enough space to drive side by side the inside line, but most likely you assumed that since you had the inside line you had the "whole" corner and he was going to give away his outside lane and you "panicked"(?) and jerked the wheel when he appeared so close (from the video still looked that you were not even with a wheel on the curb).

I know its agressive from his part, but hey is racing, and he didn't force you to take an off-track line (he stayed one car width away from the inside lane).
Just my opnion...
