Default Cal Speedway Video

Here is some video from qualifying at Cal Speedway with NASA a few weeks ago. Unfortunately my chasecam shut itself off 10 seconds into the race and missed a fun battle with some big HP vettes/vipers.

Saturday chasing a comp coupe - I got him in the race :-)
I turned a 1:44 in this session - looking at my data I think I could have done a 42 if I had a traffic free lap and put everything together...

A lap from Sunday - finally went flat out around the oval!

Great sounding car. I watched you race both days and was wondering what's under the hood and what gearing you had. The car was impressive....

Thanks! I was going to race GTS5 on Sunday, but unfortunately did not make the race due to an issue with the gearbox mount in qualifying :-(

The car is a '74 tub with a 2000 996 cup motor and G96 cup car gearbox. The gearing is close to stock '04 cup but tweaked a tiny bit. It is ~2500# on grid and makes 348 rwhp. We've only been running this car for a few months and are still getting it dialed in. Just made a drastic spring rate change before Fontana and it seemed to work pretty well, but it's not quite there yet...

One of my close friends races a similar car with POC. It the 'Yellow Bee', a 76 tub with a 997 cup motor but he stuck with the 930 rear suspension and 5 speed. Obviously you took it anotch higher. I think he weighs about 2450 so the two of you would be fun to watch. We'll be at Cal Speedway Sept. 19-20th, you should bring that bad boy out to play....

I know of John's car (have emailed with him once or twice). It would be fun...

My car also has the 930 rear. We are thinking about putting in a 993 cradle but haven't decided if it's worth it or not - I have heard mixed opinions. The car came with a G50 5 speed but it didn't hold up. Fitting the G96 with the trailing arms and rear camber boxes was NOT easy. We had to make new brackets for the shift cables and re route them.
