Years ago I had ocasion to work in the Burn Unit at UCI Medical Center. Alan is probably better off.

His family is another story. Sorry for their loss. Condolences.

Wow, that is a big dose of how quickly stuff can go south on you. RIP and prayers to his family.

Sorry to hear about Alan, i did not know him but you never want to hear about a racer leaving us. I do not mean to hijack this thread but as a husband and dad (and someone looking to get into this sport next year) what precautions can be taken to make sure this does not happen. Does anyone know what the cause was? Is there a way to test your fire supression system without emptying the bottles?

God Speed Alan and god bless his family.

Just received this:

Most of you receiving this message have likely heard that Alan Burgess died yesterday, Monday, Aug 24, in the late afternoon at Orlando Regional Hospital after being severely burned in the racing incident August 10 at Daytona International Speedway. He was 55 years old. Alan loved racing his Porsche 944 with the CFR and the Porsche Club. He will be sorely missed at the track and at Cisco Foods where he worked.

Pray for his wife Marleny, his mother Marge & step-dad Bill and his sister & brother-in-law, the Grahams. Many of his friends and racing buddies have expressed their love, their sense of loss and their concern. Remember to pray for our first responders who assisted Alan at the track when he came onto Pit Lane. I know they are also hurting very much. There is not too much we can say to blunt the pain of this loss – I personally believe that Alan is now fully healed and experiencing the most alive day he ever had … this hope in God gives me a sense of peace about his death but the loss is still very real and still very raw. I have been staying in touch with Marleny and spoke with her last night and again today. She is very grateful for our love and prayers.
