That was quite lame and ruined the GT2 class from almost the beginning of the race. I guess they are doing the pace car based on LMP1 and letting the other classes fall where they may. It sounded like they may be reviewing this policy from the interview with some of the GT2 team managers (I believe it was the Corvette team manager who mentioned asking for changes).

Great weekend - my wife was "hired" to be a grid / flag girl on Sunday morning, so suddenly I was covering the WC race
Next thing I know I'm walking down the front straight with a group of beautiful women holding flags.....life can be really rough some times.

What's wrong with this picture?

Wow, even though the stupid pace car rule ruined the GT2 race, there was some great action in that class for 3rd, 4th, & 5th. Speed even covered most of the passes! Great race to watch. Can't wait for the next races and next year. Porsche is really going to have to develop the car this winter.

BTW - I say everyone contact ALMS and tell them to switch the stupid pace car staking rule.

I actually had a great time this weekend. I was taken under the wing on successive days by two of the best motorsports photgs in the business. Bob Chapman let me tag along Saturday morning, then I hung on John Thawley's coat tails the entire race on Sunday.

Too bad photographic skills aren't learned through osmosis, or I'd be in looking good right now.

Thanks for the comments anyway.

I enjoyed the race from the couch-better replays!

Any news on whether they are gonna repave track??
I noticed the patches of ashplat extended out especially in Turn 1.

Does anyone have a pic of formation going up the hill to start finish?

Get me one of those funky blue vests and I'll get closer to the fence.

The main reason for the shots was to show our flunkymobile lifting the rear wheel even with ungodly stiff front springs.

Turn 6 (both sides)
Turn 7 (both sides)
Most of the carousel
The "beach"
Outside turn 3
Outside turn 14
Outside of Canada corner
Turn 13A / B both sides

Those are just a few spots you can snag damn good photos from spectator areas without a huge lens with no fence in the way.

I shot this before I had my vest at Canada Corner with a D200 & 70-200 lens:

Oh trust me I know the spots. I just needed the shot from the spot where the fence was. I probably could have taken a similar shot from 12 but I didn't have the time to get there from 3 during our session.

I've been going to events there since before you've been born, sonny, before the chain link fences, before the beaches, before the tunnels. I have a few programs from the 60's with custom artwork done by me, probably worth $1000s. Now where are the pics from the WCGT grid?

Really? I have almost every program from the early 60's to the early 70's. My parents didn't miss many events and kept every program.

I have a camping box the size of an old steamer trunk full of vintage RA programs.

That's pretty cool. I wish my parents had kept more programs. We always made at least one trip to Road America every year, and a trip to the EAA.
