Ever read Carroll Smith's "Drive to Win"? He suggests having sex the night before. Preferably with someone close to you, and not a onenight stand/conquest.

A few buddies and myself used to go to the bars with the intent of looking to "drive to win" as we called it.

Yeah and something like "besides we (driver's) have a reputation to keep w/ the birds". I can't remember exactly, but I thought calling them birds was funny......now I use that term sometimes.

Depends on what you are abstaining from.

If it was, there are a lot of priests who would be winning races.

Think with your dipstick.....
F1 drivers are at the top of their driving game and I normally see F1 drivers with really hot girl friends. There are a lot of reasons to have a really hot GF, and one of them is to check their oil level..regularly. It probably helps your relax in my opinion.

When I first started DE'ing, I came back on the morning of the second day, first session out, and I was driving much better than the previous afternoon. My instructor said something like, "You must have gotten laid since yesterday because your are much more relaxed this morning". So, I would say 'no' to abstinence.

Gents,

I've been paying avid attention to F1 since the 60s and used to read every book which Stirling Moss wrote, rather than do my schoolwork. (Check out "All but My Life".)

Sir Stirling said that he would stop participating on the Wednesday (if I remember right) before a Sunday GP.

So I guess that left him Sunday-Tuesday (on race weeks) to catch up.
He was often seen with fine arm-candy.

No wonder Stirling never won the championship.
