One thing is for sure..... posting on Rennlist does not make you a better racer!

Here is the formula you need assuming a base lap time of 1 minute.

Age Adjusted Lap Time (AALT) = Base Lap Time (BLT) + (.02*age) - (.03*years racing experience) - (.1 * (BMI - 15))

Experience is FAR more important, in the kind of stuff we're doing.

Thankfully, I've got youth, enthusiasm, and a good haircut to go with a LOT of experience (for a club racer)...

A younger driver should be faster all else equal. Something about the senses are just better. I could feel and do things in my 20s that I may not be able to do anymore. We have to work a lot harder when we get older but we are also smarter so we can still win a few races and beat the kidz.

A Paul Newman quote

"Age and treachery will beat youth and enthusiasm every time"

Works for me.

Or, phrased slightly differently, courtesy of PJ O'Rourke...

An older driver, in most cases, will be much more mature behind the wheel as far as racecraft. In all honesty though it comes down to seat time like most have said.

Mark Martin seems to be doing just fine for a 50+ plus driver.
