Default Fun NASA weekend at TWS

It was hot, but other than that the weather held out, no rain, no bad on track incidents, and I would say another wonderful NASA event !

Todays fast lap was a 1:49.263 , is that a fast lap for a stock motor 996 going clockwise ? I can't wait till the cold weather comes back, I am thinking the 99 degrees we had today is still holding us back some.

Oh, and thanks for the compliment on the car.
I was glad you, Hugh, and Steve, oh, and John on Sat. could all make it up to check out the event.

I'd say that's pretty decent, considering the temperature. Slicks or DOT's?

Kudos to both of you!

DOT's , well .... Hoosiers, do they count as DOT's ? ? ?

For a reference point for you, in the same race, Steve Ott's (who won overall) fast lap was a 1:46.226, he was in a 996 Cup car.

Hoosier claims they are DOT...does thast count?

Well driven Cup, going CCW in cooler weather, is gonna do very high 44's and 45's...so yeah. Our boy Chris Cervelli has the record, though, at a 44.0 or 44.1, if I recall....in his 993 SuperDoubleSecretProbationHefeweisenUberLightweightRSRSR.

I've seen Steve run a 42 out there going CCW, and he raced earlier and ran a 44 going CW as well. But in this same race that Jay ran the 49 all he did was a 46 so thats the reference point I used. Steve can go faster in better conditions, but I know we can also ; >

Rob Cohen ran his SPBOX in GTS-2 and there was a 4 door BMW (can't remember the name) as well. Rob won the 1st race on Sunday and then had a tire go down on the first lap of the second race. It looks like a puncture. Maybe he ran over something on the out lap? He was running 2:03's.

BMW was John Schwanzbach (I'm sure I am spelling it wrong, sorry John) , I thought there was also another black 911 running GTS2 but maybe he was running something else.

Chris's car showed up this weekend at Cal Speedway. Apparently he recently sold the car to a So Cal racer who already owns an original 993 RSR and 993 Cup. Now he's got the fastest one....

Viking is that a 3.4 or 3.6?....

You're right, the VPR car. I forgot about that one. I beleive his name is Richard Waller?

That sounds correct.

I just looked at the last race Sunday results and both John S. and Richard W. fastest laps for GTS2 were in the 2:06's

This one is a 3.6L.
Needless to say it has numerous mods but it has never even had the valve covers removed, it is NOT an X51, and it runs stock Porsche cats still !
I know I can make more power by changing up the exhaust, even more with an X51 or different cams and heads, but since we already have to run ballast for the class we are in it seems silly to add more power just to add more weight.
