The difference in the tach needle between 59.94MPH (not speeding) and 60.06 (speeding) is probably not even detectable to the eye. It ain't much. Why cut it so close? He's a race car driver. It does you no good for your pit crew to bust a 13second stop if you lose 2 seconds to the field getting on and off pit road. They make a living cutting it close, every turn, every time. It's really no different than wrecking by yourself. You live on the edge, every now and then you go over. And yes, just like it would be dumb to hit the fence with a 5 second lead it was dumb to risk speeding with a 5 second lead.

It does suck, but he's good enough that there will be other chances. Now if itwas some guy who never contended, or bounced back and forth between the various series, then it might be the ruination of a once in a career highlight.

Let's see how he responds at Pocono if it ever stops raining around here!
