I think if you added the words "fast driver" or "winning racer", then the poll would be even more accurate. Still, I do believe that it's a question of not if but when. You may think you're the best driver in the world (maybe you really are), but all it takes is for someone to drop oil, coolant or gas in a corner in front of you and, in a heartbeat, you're into a guardrail or a tire wall. If you think it'll never happen to you (not referring to you, Paolo), you're in for a rude awakening, perhaps not today but in the future, which I know is begging the question.

There are too many variables that result in crashes to think you will ever be able to avoid them all.

You will eventually crash, whether your fault or not.

There is no way, given enough time, that any driver who pushes will not crash.

No matter how good one is, everyone's ticket gets punched eventually.

The same is said for motorcyclists---street riders and racers. Big reason why I sold my last Duc....

Its an exercise in statistics. Do it enough, and one of the many things that can go wrong will go wrong.

You might be the safest and most conservative driver ever to pull on a helmet. Despite your care, fluid spills, mechanical failures, other drivers, and brain fade are all lurking in the sea of probability in which we play.

In seven years of being on the track, I have yet to have a major off, which is partly due to a great deal of luck, a lack of speed and a teeny bit of skill. I know my time will come, and my golden horseshoe will have fallen out of my a**.

Those of you who are voting that you don't believe the maxim, is it because you don't think it will happen to you? No flame intended. When you do crash, you can ask a mod to change
your answer.

It's also an excercise in attitude. Too many are driving around with the attitude that it will never happen to me. A very good instructor that I had 24 years ago told me something along those lines "there are drivers out there who have been humbled, and there are those who have yet to be".
