Basic wheel/tires swap.....
Paolo,

There is an NTW right on the way in off of 55. Also a Wallmart on the other side of the 55 exit. The NTW did a set for me last year in about 45mins as a rush order. Bring wheel tape just in case, but they did have the proper stuff when I was there.

good point, I have a lot more tire rub marks on the car now...............

Paolo, I used the little shop as well that Gary R points out. They are an individually owned small garage, were very nice and had no trouble mounting wide rims. I went there because NTW on the weekend I was there had a 2 hour wait.

I wish someone would settle whether to use the chicane or not once and for all.

I think the chicane eliminates one of the most exciting turns on the track according to my pucker meter. I can see why they used it for Grand--Am to slow speed over the bump but for the rest of us, eliminate the chicane.

I can point out the place but no idea what the name is. It's right by a fork in the road and car dealers... that help?

I agree Bill I like that turn at high speeds. The chicane is sort of hokey to me, it's not flowing like the one at The Glen. The right-left combo at Lightning is like that too for me, I don't know whether to take a line or just power into each apex and brake. IMHO chicanes should be successively increasing radius, hard brake into them, then power out.

First time for me as well. As far as hotels are concerned you can rent a "suite" trackside for $98/nite (need to call the track) or Country Inn by Carlson is pretty good. Avoid downtown as it is pretty seedy.

I will be driving it for the first time too in august. There is a kojote motorsport open track event on the 19 and 20th before the scca club race and one week before the PCA race. Combined 14 hours of track time - i should be able to learn it by then! I might even hire David Murray for coaching .. .

I just read the NNJR mandate and it states all of us Thunderbolt Virgins must have an instructor for the 1st run or we can't run! I was going to ask for a ride-a-long so it's nice to see they are on the same page..

OMFG, get them to change your diaper also

I couldn't believe how many clubs had lead/follow sessions in INSTRUCTOR groups when these tracks opened. What a waste of time.
