Cooling "suit" system upgrade news - official thread

Is it Stirling-based? I've got an Engel I adapted in a similar way (if that's what you've done). It heats, too.
There are a few different sources for the quick-connects. McMaster is kind of pricey.

I would guess I'm wrong, since actual refrigeration is heavy. My idea is for when I'm not on the track. I don't have a tralier. And mine is absent the shirt -- it's plumbed into the seat and the harness.

Hopefully we get the tachometer issue fixed and I can get the car to the track the weekend of the fourth.

When Todd calls me with the good news - then I will believe it.
The anticipation of running that car has been killing me now for...dear lord, a year now.

UPDATE: 06/19/09
Prototype parts are on their way in and the design has now taken on two different versions. If the prototype testing passes with flying colors I hope to have the following versions:
1. A hard wired unit with integrated timer and power switch.
2. A plug-in (via 12v socket) with integrated timer and power switch.
3. A rechargeable unit with charger, 2 battery packs, integrated timer and power switch.
More to come.

Sounds like jealosy to me! Besides, he still needs to do the cold air box, longer wheel studs, mount some gauges, . . . Maybe you can get ready for the August event.

If you could let me know when your product is finished I would appreciate it. I currently run the FAST system and it preforms well, but if yours is better I would switch.
Thanks

Parts are arriving. If everything goes as planned, I should be able to have a working prototype in about a week or so.

Hey Folks... This will be the official thread for my driver cooling system idea.
June 18, 2009
After much research and tests, I have found the direction to move the system forward. Materials have been ordered to begin fabrication on the 1st prototype. Have to admit, I am a bit excited about the possibilities.
Upon testing the refrigeration component, the material stayed in a range of 38-50˚ for over 8 hours. When placed within 77˚ standing water, the component started forming ice around it in a matter of 60 sec. It then chilled 3/4 a gallon of the surrounding water from 77˚ to 48˚ in 6 min with a degradation of only 2-3%. The results so far appear quite promising. More to come.
Stay tuned.

More design work, more revision, more tweaking. Parts have arrived and I am starting to put the prototype together. System is still looking very promising.
