Disable PSM in a 99C2
xposted form 996 forum:
Has anyone permanently disabled PSM in a 99 C2, a non-egas car
I located a car to rebuild my race car, but is has PSM, and dont really want this on the track. It also has the mechanical LSD, and I like that.
If I have my computer and ABS controller from my old car can I swap parts to make it work?
Anyone flashed the computer to disable?
I did a search but could not find anything on non-egas cars.
TIA

If you turn the PSM off on the old cars, it's pretty effective. It only reactivates under braking (and turns back off as soon as you are off the brakes). What this means is that you can't do aggressive trail braking to the apex, but other than that you can be extremely fast even with a car that has PSM.

There's no PSM in the 99's or 2000's. I don't think there is TC either.

This is false. I own a 2000 C2 with PSM.
To the OP, I believe that the TC on a 99 model remains disabled when turned off. The system will come on again only when the engine is shut off and restarted. However, you cannot completely disable PSM(I don't think PSM was available on '99 models) as it will reengage if/when the ABS system is engaged.
