This is my second year with a 2005 Touareg V8 with air suspension and a Trailex 7541 open trailer. That is the Porsche-size unit, 75" wide and 4100 lbs capacity. The GT3 is 72" wide and weighs around 3200 lbs; extra tires add around 320 lbs, so there is no problem of capacity. Everything has worked out great except that a plug in the electrical system suffered corrosion over the winter (do you have winter?) and I had to replace it. There are horror stories involving the 2004 Touareg or Cayenne computer when trying to use LEDs on the trailer but I think that is all fixed by now. These vehicles have built-in sensors which will report on your dashboard that a trailer light is out so everything is interconnected. I agree to tighten the lug nuts - I almost lost my spare tire and this is not uncommon. I wish I had ordered the tire rack a little wider because it now fits only 7 wheels, but the back of the T-reg has room for the eighth. Talk to Carl Carbon at Trailex - he knows everything. IMPORTANT - have a knowledgable dealer set up the T-reg or Cayenne, including the programming and the brake controller.

It's amazing what you can learn reading old posts. I think Mooty has gone thru 3 trailers and god knows how many cars (as well as at least 1 Cup car - that I know of) since he posted this. But, as odd as it seems, he's kept his 2009 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLT thru all those vehicles. He sure does love that damn truck!

Now, if I can just pry it away from his clutching hands...
