Default Dale Jr.

Okay, okay... I know NASCAR doesn't get much respect here, but don't flame me (I'm putting on the nomex now anyway... lol). It IS racing, so I felt it appropriate to post here, rather than off-topic.

With Eury Jr getting the sack, anyone think Dale Jr can get back on track? Personally, I think he's got the talent to be a Champion, but he's beating himself mentally on the track and particularly in the pits) and unless he takes a step back and starts with the basics, he's going to continue to flounder. Did Hendrick buy a championship winner, or was he just trying to buy all of Dale's fans?

Regards,

All I know is if he doesn't improve with Whitesell as the chief (for 2 weeks or whatever) and then he doesn't imrpve with Lance McGrew, and lets say they end up switching to another chief with no progress then I'd say its gonna be lights out for his career (at least as far as finishing high in the points ever again).

Regards,
Hendrick is a businessman....you know what he was buying.

Jr isn't Sr, never was, never would be, time to leave IMHO.

Any driver that misses his pit box 5 TIMES so far this year is either on drugs or is not a top-shelf driver or both. Seriously I think Jr is a good driver, but not outstanding. I don't think he has what it takes to win a championship. Any owner will jump to sign him though for the same reason Danica has a ride; legions of fans and loyal sponsors. When he gets interviewed it really doesn't look like his heart is in it and it takes a lot of commitment to win in NASCAR. Folks can say what they want about NASCAR, but that's where the money is, so that's where the top talent in this country is and Jr just ain't got it
Cheers
Randy

I would disagree and say that there are some drivers with tremendous talent yet no sponsorship $$ that do not have rides and some drivers with average talent who have sponsorship $$ who do have those rides.

The same can be said sometimes in F1 as well; it is just the reality of motorsports today.

Exactamundo !

Dale Jr. is a conglomerate and a very profitable one at that.

Now as for his driving...he's just midpack

I do not agree. Dale Jr has the talent to be a winning driver. He has won 2 NASCAR Nationwide series championships and numerous NASCAR Sprint Cup events. I watch the races and I see his car fighting around the track, major steering corrections and so forth. Get the proper set up under him and he will be fine.

Dale Jr. really doesnt have what it takes to be a champion... He is good, but ALL drivers in a series like this are good. He really isn't anything special though. All the hendrick guys share notes and have similar setups. He constantly is out-qualified and out-raced by Mark, Jeff, and Jimmie. Without Mark's engine failures earlier in the season, every Hendrick driver but Jr. would be sitting in the top 5 in points.

If SR. would have lived JR. would be a championship contender every year. Sense his father died JR's performance has declined steadily every year. He needed his ole' man to keep him in line.

I was standing on the front straight at Daytona when Sr died. I can still remember the sound of the car hitting the wall and the look on Schrader's face when he walked away from Sr's car...you knew immediately what happened.
