I'm trying to see if I can clear up some funds for the Traqmate buy - Important to also think of others you might want to compare data too. NorCal 944Spec are all Traqmate so that would be what I buy.

I am very interested in the Racepak IQ3.
You might want to change the title of your thread to something like "Traqmate vs Racepak IQ3 Group Buy" so that folks scanning the title of the thread know the direction this is going.

I researched the IQ3 a bit further and the more I learn about most of its capabilities, the more I like it. Just one downside that I have found so far -> To add ANY additional functionality beyond what is included with the unit can start to get a little expensive.
For example, to add the ability to display and data log oil pressure costs an additional $250 for the sensor / module combo. To add the ability to display and data log oil temperature costs another $250 . . . to add fuel pressure another $250 . . . to add brake pressure another $250. I can see how I could spend an additional $1,000 on sensors for the IQ3 in the blink of an eye.
Or . . . is there some other way to add the above functionality that is cheaper???

You can add Universal Sensor Modules (USM) to the IQ3. The USM 4 Channel sensor module is approx $170. You can connect up to 8 USM's to the IQ3 allowing for up to 32 possible inputs. According to Racepak, each input can be programmed for almost any sensor (except thermocouple types). There is also a Chasecam module that can be added directly to the Vnet cable.
I would suggest that a new thread be started for an IQ3 group buy, as we may miss a few interested people with the current thread title.

I had racepak provide me a quote some time ago and the following are all racepak list prices as of last fall. As I understand it, for every four sensors you wish to add you require one USM 4 sensore input module ($179). Then you need to add each sensor and wiring cable (each 144" cable was $30). One VNET extension cable (36" was $48) for the whole system. The racepak oil pressure sensor was $179 as where the temperature sensors (coolante temp, oil temp) were only $50 each. Six feet of wiring to tap into the brake on/off was only $10. On the more expensive side, the throttle position sensor was $300 and the steering position sensor was $290. It is important to note that you are not required to use racepak sensors but the racepak sensors are plug and play so although they are more expensive, they reduce setup time and are guaranteed by racepak. What I like about the iq3 is that you can go ahead and add the sensors and actually get the readout on the display so you can actually monitor oil pressure, temps, voltage etc. on the fly in one readout. I think you can also setup the warning lights for critical temp/pressure readings. As great as Traqmate is, it doesn't help me much if the logger records a huge loss of oil pressure or a spike in temperatures but I don't learn about it until I've downloaded the info meanwhile my motor's blown. All the alternatives for this type of unit are much more expensive. Perhaps someone can comment on the price AIM or Motec sensors.
