GM Jettisoning Pontiac?
So I heard some noise about Pontiac being jettisoned by GM, what happens to the Grand Am teams that run cars/motors. VIR just finished

Didn't they mention during the race that this is the last year for the tube frame Pontiacs to be legal?
Also not to change the subject but it really stinks that Grand Am took 200rpm and 1 gear (making it a 5speed) away from the Porsche Daytona Prototypes! That little 6cylinder can't keep up like that.

Some privateers will likely pick them up. GM won't be providing their factory drivers to pilot them and factory support so they'll turn to back markers like the GTO's did once they got picked up. But the LS series motors are plentiful so they'll always be around. Since the cars are tube framed, they don't share many other parts with the street cars anyways so I don't know how many parts GM actually provides.

10-4 on all just contemplating the massive $$$ drain it will have at the team and support level. If POTUS can replace the #1 at GM he could proabably have some influence on the marketing budgets AKA racing.
