I tow a 964 with a 17.5' '07 featherlite 3110. Have a custom box on the front end with tires above. Loaded box and tires, took car to a shop I use, and used their scales to figure out where to place the car to get the tongue weight I wanted. Put wheel stops so car is always in perfect position. Box plus tires is below the roof line of my SUV (Toyota Seq), but still acts as a shield to keep road detritus off the car.
Playing with the idea selling it to go enclosed though.
