Default Which Camber Gauge

I'm looking for a camber gauge to go along with my smart strings, toe plates and scales. Ii can;t figure out which Longacre one, or anyone elses, would be best for my wheels. Any suggestions?

I have bot h the longacre and smartcamber gauges.

The longacre is built much more sturdy with cnc machined aluminum whereas the smartcamber works but is much more flimsy metal.

That said I use both to double check when I change and they both read the same so both will work...

Ps - if you have smartstrings why do you use toe plates?

How do you attached the Longacre unit?
It is much easier to use the toe plates than going through the whole string set-up. Especially when just rechecking at the track.

Same as smartcamber. Three pins touch wheel.

Here is a pic...

Does the car have to be on level surface for this to work? Has anyone checked this with a real alignment?

I believe with all camber gauges it has to be on a level surface if you want the gauge to read properly unless you do some compensating either manually or recalibtating your gauge to the ground surface.

I am definitely not an expert on it so maybe someone else will chime in and describe the best way to do it.

Definitely need a level surface. However, the camber gauges are still good for making changes.

I am seriously thinking about getting the Fastrax setup (2 units) with the toe arms for a quick touchup at the track. One nice thing about it is that it will adjust for unlevel ground. For the garage, I don't see it replacing my smart strings.

Norm, I do think that the electronic gauges have a provision to "set the level" so it can be used on unlevel surfaces. At the track, I prefer to just check the ground level and do the math. For the shop, I have leveling stands that I set with a laser.
